The Asian family: Mei-tai, Onbuhimo, Podeagi

These carriers are all a variation on a rectangle and straps.

The mei-tai is the traditional Chinese carrier. It is a rectangle with 4 straps: 2 waist straps and 2 shoulder straps.
The
onbuhimo is the traditional Japanese carrier. It is a rectangle with 2 straps and 2 rings: 2 shoulder straps and 2 rings (either aluminium, Nylon, or fabric) at the waist.
The
podeagi is the traditional Korean carrier. It is a long rectangle with 2 shoulder straps, in a T or Y-shape.

There are 2 main families: the padded shoulder straps and the wrap shoulder straps. This is down to personal preferences. The padded straps are very easy to use and either feel comfortable for you or don't. The wrap straps require a bit more skills but can adjust to any shape and spread the weight better.
These all come in a variety of fabrics, patterns, sizes, compositions, etc. This is brand-specific and what works for you might not work for someone else. Again, it is all down to personal preferences.
Some have a rectangle that can be adjusted in width and/or height which makes them easier to use from birth.
