Frequently Asked Questions about consultations/workshops

Do I need to have a sling to attend a consultation/workshop?
No you don't. If you have one, we will use it though!

Can I come if I am pregnant?
Yes you can. We do work with weighted dolls. The earlier you come in your pregnancy the more you can do but the more likely you will forget. The later you come, the more the bump is in the way but you will remember more.

Can I bring my baby?
Yes please!! We do work with dolls to start with but the real deal is definitely better!

Can I have my older child with me too?
You sure can. At a consultation, things are done at your pace and I do have toys for bigger kids in my house. At a workshop, it is up to you to make sure the other participants can still follow the workshop.

What happens in a consultation?
First we will discuss your needs and what you said in your preliminary questionnaire. We will talk about positioning and safety. Then I will demo once before we do things together with the dolls and when you feel ready you will practice with your baby. Depending on your previous experience and how quickly you pick things up, we will see one to two carries, in detail. I may demo another one for you.

What happens in a workshop?
Firstly we all do a quick introduction. I will then talk about positioning and safety. Then I will demo once before we do things together with the dolls. Then I will leave you to try with your babies or the dolls whilst I will come and talk to each of you and give you pointers.

Why should I come to a consultation rather than a workshop?
In a consultation, you get proper tailored advice. I can adjust the teaching method to you and the channel through which you learn best. At a workshop, you might feel you do not get the attention you want for your specific needs. Also, a consultation lasts longer so we can take the time to talk through all of your questions. We also get to see more than one type of slings if you wish to.

Why should I come to a workshop rather than a consultation?
You will get to meet other parents and it can be a lot of fun. It is cheaper too.
